AARP: David Hyde Pierce discusses Alzheimers Research
Both the 4.5 million Americans diagnosed and many of their loved ones suffer from the affects of Alzheimer's disease ' an ailment that health experts predict will continue to grow. However, there are plans underway that would cut all research funding for this memory loss disease. Advocates, like actor David Hyde Pierce, are fighting to reverse these plans. Opponents say that medical research cannot only save lives but also billions of tax dollars in Medicare and Medicaid payments. " Since 1994 the actor has appeared at fundraisers, testified before Congress, and loaned his celebrity to increase awareness of the disease that affects some 5 million Americans.
