Tree Canada Foundation: Plant Trees
The Tree Canada Foundation is a not-for-profit, charitable organization established in 1992. Under the direction of a 13-member volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation provides education, technical assistance, resources and financial support through working partnerships to encourage Canadians to plant and care for trees in an effort to help reduce the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions. The school community including neighbours, parents, students and teachers work with the grounds staff of the school to create a site plan for the planting of large shade trees and demonstration nature study areas. The maintenance of these natural educational gardens is undertaken by the school community in consultation with the ground maintenance department of the school.
