Peligro en la cuna de los ninos
Segun la comision para la seguridad de los productos de consumo de los estados unidos,entre el año 2002 y el 2004, la mitad de las 97 muertes ocurridas en las cunas se debia a la presencia de almohadas, colchas y otra ropa de cama y no a defectos del producto. Para reducir los peligros de asfixias se sugiere: que los ninos duerman de espalda. No utilizar almohadas, peluches o sabanas y no colocar la cuna cerca de ventanas cuyas cortinas tengan cordones. En el caso de los hispanos esta supervision es con frecuencia compartida con abuelos y tios. El programa Healthy Families American incluye a estos familiares en la tarea de crear un ambiente seguro para estos ninos.
