UNICEF reports progress on fighting HIV-AIDS
That children are no longer the invisible face of HIV AIDS.
Baby Mohammed is only a few hours old but his mother is HIV positive and so he’s about to begin a course of
prophylactic drugs.
Prevention of mother to child transmission is one of the most important aspects of the Unite for Children, Unite
against AIDS campaign which launched in 2005. And the second stocktaking report says enormous progress has
been made.
Whether it’s this community-based programme in Djibouti which reaches the majority of the country’s pregnant
women ….treatment … UNICEF and its partners are making sure that children are no longer the invisible face of HIV AIDS
