Volvo: 2006 Volvo Adventure Awards
Four students at Ko' School in Istanbul won the top prize of $10,000 for their project entitled "Recycled Boxes for Education," in which they constructed school desks from thousands of recycled juice and milk boxes. The desks were then donated to schools in underprivileged areas. The Volvo Adventure International competition is an environmental award that rewards environmental action taken by young people. The program is intended to give young people the
chance to gain international recognition for their local environmental projects and to help support environmental education in schools and the local community. Volvo Adventure is supported by the United Nations Environment Program.
