UNICEF: Two Year Update Overview Spanish
Dos años después que un tsunami en el Océano Índico provocara más de 200.000 muertes y destruyera viviendas, escuelas y comunidades en una vasta región, UNICEF continúa trabajando para reconstruir las vidas de los niños y niñas y ofrecerles un futuro más promisorio. En su nuevo informe, titulado "Grandes logros, grandes retos", con datos actualizados sobre los 24 meses de labores de ayuda para la reconstrucción de las comunidades afectadas por el tsunami, UNICEF brinda un recuento detallado de las actividades que comenzaron el 26 de diciembre 2004, cuando se produjo el desastre, y que continuará durante muchos años. El informe hace un balance de los progresos logrados en los países más afectados por el desastre, como la India, Indonesia, Malasia, las Maldivas, Myanmar, Somalia, Sri Lanka y Tailandia. "Desde el inicio de la respuesta al tsunami, UNICEF ha logrado prestar ayuda a unos 4,8 millones de niños, niñas y mujeres en ocho países", indica el informe. "Casi dos años más tarde, mucho es lo que se ha hecho, pero queda también mucho por hacer".
