GERD impact on daily life 2
More than 1 in 10 adults in Europe and North America has heartburn or acid regurgitation at least once a week. 1 The pain and discomfort caused by GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) can have a considerable effect on daily life and interfere with the individual's work, social life and sleeping patterns.2 The main symptoms of GERD are frequent heartburn and acid regurgitation, chest pain, difficulty in swallowing, belching, persistent coughing, hoarseness, sore throat and throat clearing can occur as well.1 In spite of efforts to manage these conditions with over the counter remedies, symptoms often persist which impose a heavy burden on these individuals. Therefore, if recurrent heartburn and other symptoms above affect ones life, a strong advice is to go and see a doctor.
