Enjoying a life time of fun in the sun can lead to skin cancer in your 40â€™s, and 50â€™sâ€¦and moles can be the first sign of a deadly form of skin cancerâ€¦melanoma. even though melanoma accounts for only 10 percent of all skin cancers, itâ€™s responsible for nearly 80 percent of skin cancer deaths. When planning a day in the sun, apply sun screen before you head out. make sure to wear protective clothing such as a hat and long sleeved shirts or use an umbrella for extra shade. and itâ€™s important to remember that those with darker skin color are just as susceptible to skin cancer as those with lighter skin tones. For those over age 45 dermatologist recommend doing a skin check monthly and those with darker skin tones should check their palms, fingernails and feet carefully.
